Hey loves! It's here. It's finally here! LaNae Creations had been in the making for a while, I just didn’t know how to start because there are so many directions I could go. There is so much to learn and I’m definitely not where I want to be. So naturally, I couldn’t find my niche. I do know one thing is for sure, we all have to start somewhere. This is my somewhere. This is where I made the decision to gift myself with a website during my birthday month.
I’m really not sure how many times I’ve sat with this laptop in my hands, telling myself to get a website going. We all know the saying that days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months. Before we know it, we’ve done everything besides what we wanted to accomplish. It’s life, it happens.
During the pandemic, I ran my small business mostly through e-mail and social media. But like any other wife, mom and full time worker, I just ran out of time to keep up. So, I shut sales down and took a break to only do some selfish sewing. I wanted to find my niche, study different techniques, broaden my sewing capabilities and learn my machines. Let’s just say there’s so much to unpack just from those tasks. I couldn’t allow that stop me from creating.
What made me want to dabble back into being a small business owner, you ask? I watched so many small businesses thrive from the simplicity of just having something to sell. One day, I was scrolling on TikTok as usual and found a group of sewists. The way they encouraged each other, supported each other, answered questions, asked questions, invited everyone to join… For me that was intriguing. I wanted to be a part of it. There is no official membership, you just kinda jump in and that’s what happened. They have been instrumental in me growing as a sewist and wanting to start business again. Shout out to Carmen and the Black Sewing Network, my sew family rocks and I hope to continue to be a part of the group!
As for my birthday, just know that it warmed my heart that you even showed me some love by visiting my website.
